Description
ANSI/HI 9.6.6 Rotodynamic Pumps for Pump Piping is a NEW ANSI/HI standard and a companion to ANSI/HI 9.8, Pump Intake Design.
ANSI/HI 9.6.6 applies to rotodynamic pump types in all applications, and details required and recommended practices for pump piping. Important and critical to your use of rotodynamic pumps: the Standard explains the most current recommended procedures that should be followed in order to reduce the risk of a pump’s failure to perform due to interaction with the system. (Any piping integral to the pump unit, such as auxiliary or lubricant piping, is not included.) Content sampling:
–Effects and interactions of inlet/outlet piping on pump performance
–How suction piping can affect the net positive suction head available and its influence on cavitation
–How well-designed pumping systems affect uniform velocity distribution / symmetric flow to the suction pump to achieve maximum performance and reliability
–How poorly designed suction piping can lead to noisy operation, random axial load oscillations, premature bearing or seal failure, cavitation damage to the impeller and inlet portions of the casing and more
The new Standard is intended for use as a complement to ANSI/HI 9.8 Pump Intake Design. To eliminate the possibility of overlapping or conflicting content, this document is applicable as follows:
–All piping downstream and upstream from the pump;
–Upstream from the pump, this document ceases to be applicable when the pipe enters a tank, vessel, or other intake structure. Refer to ANSI/HI 9.8 for intakes other than piping
